How to Stop Instagram from Tracking your Location

Instagram is a photo and video sharing platform. IG allows its users to upload pictures and videos on it, which you can edit with so many attractive filters, and organize with tags and also location information.

When you share a post on your Instagram account, your content will be shared publicly or with your pre-approved followers. If you had added your location on post or video, this would also show with your post. It means you are sharing your information with all of them. Maybe you don’t think that sharing your current location as sensitive information. But it is. People with evil intent could use that information to your disadvantage.

So, here are some simple steps for both iPhone and Android device by using them you can prevent Instagram from accessing your location.

How to stop Instagram from tracking your location by using iPhone
1.    Open ‘Settings’ of your iPhone device. It is a grey gear icon on your home screen.
2.    Scroll down and tap on ‘Instagram’.
If you can’t find Instagram anywhere in the Settings, this means it isn’t using your location.
3.    Now, tap on ‘Location.’ Location is the top option in the Instagram settings.
4.    Tap ‘Never’ in the ALLOW LOCATION ACCESS section.
Doing this will make sure that Instagram never has access to your location

How to stop Instagram from tracking your location by using Android
1.    Open ‘Settings’ of your Android device. It may be in the main menu or on the home screen.
2.    Find the location in Settings and tap on it.
3.    Turn off Location. If there is a toggle button, then make it grey to turn off and blue means location is turned on.

Doing this will disable your device location services for all the apps. This means Instagram also can’t access your location information.
