Alexa connectivity is expected to be seen soon arriving on a
brand new wave of Bluetooth headphones, smartwatches, and other devices after
Amazon launched its Alexa Mobile Accessory Kit.
The software development kit was released a few months ago in
January, and companies containing Jabra, Bose, and iHome have already shown
their approval on using the SDK in their devices. The kit lets manufacturers
build the products that hook directly into the Alexa app on iOS or Android,
instead of having to create their own app or Alexa skill.
It also has to make sure that devices are automatically
updated with any of the new features whenever they get available in the app.
Qualcomm manufactured a reference design at a very good price for a smart Alexa
headset. It is likely to help developers in getting started on their own Alexa
Bluetooth devices.
If you are using one of these Alexa-enabled products, you
will first need to pair the device to the phone and after that, run through a
quick set up process in the app. By making/letting developers add Alexa
functions to devices in a smart way, Amazon will be hoping to maintain other
voice assistants like Siri and Google Assistant at bay as it forges forward with
its ambition for putting Alexa remarkably everywhere.
